These instruments are surprisingly easy to play and the intonation is good. The tone is wonderfully rich and deep and having the fourth valve is a definite bonus. The rotary valves are very slick and very well-positioned. It is a small size so is perfect for the beginner or smaller Tuba player -or even a bigger player who wants a more transportable model! The models are all in lacquered yellow brass and have nickel silver outer slides, red brass lead-pipe , double ball and socket joints.
