This is a very affordable six string ukulele, which has been neatly made and sounds impressively full in tone. It plays nicely and gives you the novelty and interest of a 6-string without excessively pushing your budget. A six string is a very rewarding thing, a really fascinating sound, yet understandable it might be a luxury that not everyone can add to their collections. With this Baton Rouge V2-T6, at least the price brings it into more people's comfort zone for a more unusual ukulele purchase.

Given the big, bold tone when strumming, the nice playability and decorative soundhole etching, coupled with the relatively budget price, this Baton Rouge had us searching for a downside. It is a laminate mahogany instrument, but the 6-string format really brings an extra dimension of sound anyway - meaning you get a bigger tone than an average uke just on account of the number of strings and the way they are tuned. Happy as we are for you to purchase more expensive solid top and all solid 6 stringed tenor ukes that we carry in stock, the sound may be better but not as much as you would find if you were comparing, say, a beginners and intermediate 4-string tenor.

So what is the downside? The tuners seem good. The strings are Aquila. The whole thing looks very nice. Aha! Spotted something... There is no binding on the instrument, meaning you can see the mahogany veneer and the laminate around the edge. Not a fault, but could have been nicer! And that is about it? If they'd put binding on and made this a fiver more expensive I think they'd have had a really excellent product on their hands, rather than just simply an excellent one when price is factored in.
