This instrument has well-tuned bars of aluminium. It is relatively sweet-sounding and would form the top element of an ensemble of pitched percussion. It plays the descant or tune part of the classroom orchestra. (If setting up, one should also consider the German Studio 49 make.)
Soprano glocks work well with the other parts of the metal chorus, ie the Alto glock, Tenor metallophone or chime bars, and of course, Bass metallophone!
This ensemble is well complemented by the choir of Xylophones- Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.
These sets of instruments will form the central core of the Orff-based Classroom orchestra.
Naturally, all these instruments would, ideally have the chromatic halves!
