This tiny piccolo ukulele is fully playable instrument, made in conjuction with Aquila who have developed special thin gauge strings for it. The iUke is properly made, with a solid cedar top, laminate mahogany back and sides, sapele neck and rosewood fingerboard. The total body length is just 40cm, and scale length 26cm. It has really good quality friction pegs and is tuned to GCEA, an octave above a standard soprano ukulele.

The biggest thing to say about this little ukulele is that it is fun. It has a sweet, sweet tone, which 'tinkles', when strummed. Perhaps its the design, the Aquila strings or the solid spruce tonewood, but it packs a surprising volume too. The sound is bright and clear, and its so small that you can stick in a bag or case and take it anywhere. The action is low, maybe by design or maybe just the fact that its such a small thing!

Apart from the entertainment factor, the iUke also has its practical uses for ukulele groups, where it offers a sound no other ukes can reach. The high notes appear beyond the range of normal instruments, giving an added extra when ukuleles are played together.

Very handily, for such a mini ukulele, it comes with its own branded iUke ukulele padded gig bag. This is nicely made and completes the picture on a great little bit of kit.
