The John Packer JP121 Mark IV clarinet is easy to recommend as a good value instrument to get clarinetists through the early grades.  It features strong, durable keywork on a woodgrain-effect abs resin body and includes an adjustable thumb rest and two tuning barrels to suit younger players.

The JP121 clarinet is the same design as the John Packer JP021  clarinet, but with a higher quality case and silver plated keys which are both more hard-wearing and attractive.
