Before we'd seen the Kala KA-FMB baritone ukulele we had some theories about it being a good uke with a well balanced tone. We felt that the big baritone body would give plenty of depth, but the gloss finish would help it to project - while the fitted Aquila strings and solid spruce top would bring out some brightness on the treble notes too. When we got one, if you've seen the A-team, we were tempted to light up a cigar and like Hannibal and say 'I love it when a plan comes together'. It really does balance out beautifully, with depth and warm bass, complimented by singing high notes. And its loud too, in a controlled way.

The Kala KA-FMB baritone is also a great looking uke, with a nice, very tightly grained warm yellow spruce top, abalone soundhole decoration, black and white binding and a high gloss finish. Lovely though it looks from the front, it is the back that is the real show-stopper - with wonderful patterns created by the spalted maple. This natural wood phenomenon is fascinating to look at, and each uke will be individual as no two patterns are the same.

There's not much else to cover on this baritone ukulele - it is lovely to look at, sounds fantastic, and is excellent value - as it performs as well or better than some more expensive baritone ukuleles.
