The Kala KA-GTR is a lovely, slotted headstock 4-string tenor guitar with a solid spruce top. This tenor guitar is strung CGDA (fifths), but can be returned to DGBE for like the top four strings of a guitar or baritone ukulele. As Kala is a company most well known for its ukuleles, as you would expect the tone is similar to a baritone ukulele, with lovely rolling depth coupled with sparkling highs aided by the solid spruce top. The back and sides are laminate rosewood.

This KA-GTR has excellent sustain, volume and a great deep bottom end (soundwise, its bottom is quite normal!). There's a strap button at the base and a nice slotted headstock too. It is really impressive, when we first tried it was very hard not to take it home. In fact, I just might.

It is possible to re-string this instrument like a ukulele (with metal strings). To achieve the tuning, we'd use the following gauge strings, low G (.42), C (.20), E (.14) and A (.10). If you wanted re-entrant tuning with a high G, replace the .42 strings with .12 gauge instead. If you want this tuning, we'll do it for free, just add a note to your order in the checkout.
