This Kala KA-MTG is an extremely attractive mid range tenor ukulele, with a lively tone and lovely looks. You can see from the photographs we've taken that this Kala tenor is extremely nice to look at, but what you can't see from the photos is just how nice it sounds. The tone is really great - it is delicate and complex when picked, yet responsive enough to deliver volume and brightness when strummed. The bright edge comes from the fitted Aquila strings but there is a woody depth behind the intial attack which rolls over you like a wave of rich chocolate. Whoah... enough of the poetic descriptions already!
The gloss finish really brings out the visual qualities of the mango, and the uke has an abalone soundhole decoration, with black, white and wood body binding. All little touches that elevate the Kala KA-MTG above the norm for impact on the eyes. The Kala KA-MTG tenor is nicely set up, with a nubone nut and saddle, which give this uke a ringing sustain. It has Aquila strings fitted, which seem to suit the ukulele - particularly with the great projection it has when you play hard and fast. The neck is solid mahogany, and it has geared, closed metal tuners, with black buttons.
Overall it looks stunning and sounds great - better than some more expensive ukes certainly. It is hard to imagine anyone being disappointed with this Kala KA-MTG.
