This is a minute little uke, similar in size to an iUke, with a 16" length from end to end (40.6cm), and an 11" scale length (27.94cm). The term used for a uke this size is a sopranissimo - and this thing is seriously little! It can be played GCEA in the key of C, alongside other ukulele players - and used normal Aquila soprano strings. So, like the iUke it is a cute little thing. But it differs in not being an octave higher than your other ukes. It is just like a regular uke - but just tiny! For an even sweeter sound, this pocket uke is best tuned A, D, F#, B - using the same chord shapes but with each note tuned up one from the norm. This just emphasises the sweetness of tone it produces.

The pocket uke from Kala has a solid spruce top, laminate mahogany back and sides and comes with geared tuners and a padded gig bag. The small size makes it ideal for travel, hand luggage and to pop in the car if you're going on a trip. The maximum depth of the body is under 1.5" (3.8cm). It is compact, fun, sweet, cute, playable, fun and fun. You may have noticed an emphasis on fun in that sentence, but to be fair, it is a lot of fun! The tone is almost like a closed back banjolele, in miniature - definitely a vintage emphasis to how it sounds.
