This baritone electro ukulele is one of our custom workshop experiments. We've been trying out various combinations of pickups and ukes to try and get over the fact that electro baritone ukuleles are the most common of things in the uke market. This Korala UKB-410E has a Fishman Sonitone active preamp and under saddle pickup, producing a very pure, smooth tone.

We fitted this with Aquila lava baritone ukulele strings, with wound D and G and the smooth, pleasant feeling black D and E strings. The sound it produces is very soft and gentle. With a slightly wider neck and a relatively shallow neck profile, the fingerboard feels very accessible, making this uke particularly nice for finger-picking. Acoustically, it is not the loudest of ukes, not quiet nut it isn't an 'in your face' type.

The Sonitone system has a volume and tone control attached to the soundboard just inside the soundhole, meaning one fewer hole cut in your uke. The amplified performance is the real star - better than the acoustic tone. So, this is certainly a uke for someone who likes to record or perform plugged in... If that is you, this uke is impressive!
