Kremona is a relatively new entrant to the world of ukuleles, although the company itself has been producing instruments for many years. This Kremona Coco tenor ukulele is extremely well crafted, with great care taken to produce a beautifully finished and fine sounding instrument. The headline is that this is made in European workshops and are superbly made, without any corners cut. True, this makes them more expensive, but the Kremona Coco tenor ukulele has a beautiful voice, with a lively and complex tone - which justifies the price difference over Chinese made models.

The Kremona Coco tenor ukulele has a beautiful solid red cedar top, with solid Indian rosewood back and sides. Unlike some of the Kala ukulele modes, where the cedar tone is nice, but brighter than anticipated - with the Kremona Coco, that rounded nature of solid cedar is particularly apparent. With Aquila strings fitted you get a burst of bright, percussive attack with a more rounded, warmer tone filling in behind it. It is a delight for fingerpicking too, with some lovely harmonics and complexity of sound. Set up is great too with a nice action, and accurate intonation.

The nut width is wider than some tenor ukes at 37mm, which together with a fuller neck profile makes this Kremona Coco tenor ukulele sit particularly well in larger hands. The nut itself is natural bone, and there are good quality gold plated open, geared tuners. The neck is solid mahogany and feels nice with the satin finish that also features on the body - where the two tone wooden rosette makes a nice feature.

Overall this is a uke that is perfect for anyone, but should appeal to performers - as the sound is so rich and well rounded. If you're looking to step beyond what China can offer, but haven't quite got the budget for Hawaii - this is a great option. The Kremona Coco is the equal of entry level Hawaiian made instruments, and is superior to some.
