There are some lovely inlays around the soundhole of this Ohana CK-60C concert ukulele, with abalone set into the top in a plant motif. Obviously, such features are designed to turn heads, and that they do. However, the key is that this is a relatively inexpensive ukulele given that it is all solid mahogany - so you can look a bit flash without worrying that you've overspent on what at the end of the day, is only decoration.
The tone of the CK-60C, as you'd expect from this all solid mahogany Ohana, is centred around a warm core, which can be subtle or bold depending on how you play. It is responsive ukulele, at once gentle and sweet when picked, or loud and dominant when strummed hard. What isn't lost at any point are some nice crisp trebles, presumably helped by the fitted Aquila strings.
The CK-60C from Ohana has a smooth satin finish, with a nice mahogany grain visible. Tortoiseshell style binding is in place, although given the overall colouring of the uke, this is quite a subtle choice. There are Grover open geared tuners and a bone nut and saddle which do their respective jobs very well too.
This is a nice looking uke, but crucially one that performs very nicely. It is an ideal second 'step-up' uke for those wanting to enter the world of all solid tonewood ukes without breaking the bank.
