After placing a recent Ohana order, we asked if they had any juicy special offers we could take advantage while our shipment was being prepared. We were slightly taken aback, though delighted, when we got this opportunity - less than half price for an Ohana CKS-15E concert electro uke! They're normally £180, near enough, depending on the exchange rate - with a list price of $279. Our price, including next working day UK delivery and set up is... just £85!

The Ohana CKS-15E is a slim body design, with the depth being just 46mm. However, with Aquila strings fitted, and a slightly arched back, it still delivers plenty of volume. It has a laminate body construction, with white body binding - but the arched back really adds body, giving a really bold depth to the uke's voice. The strings retain some pleasant top end sparkle, but the CKS-15E really is a well balanced, impressively loud travel sized concert ukulele.

This concert electro has a nice, smooth rosewood fingerboard and 19 frets. The nut is a standard 35mm, but because of the slim body, this concert uke feels easy to hold and playable. The finish is good, while not being a show stopper in terms of looks - but certainly nice and smart.

The CKS-15E is fitted with a passive pickup, which seems to recreate the acoustic tone very well. If there was a criticism, with normal amp settings, the mix is a bit too much towards the treble notes - but using your amp's EQ to boost mid-range and turn down the treble a little and you get a really very impressive amplified tone, certainly a lot better than we were expecting for the money.

Better than half price sounds like a bargain, and usually there is some drawback, but in this case we're unable to find one. Perhaps because it is a slim body concert electro, which isn't the most popular configuration in the world, Ohana have made too many of these? But what is for sure is that for this price, the value this CKS-15E offers is exceptional.
