At last, a manufacturer has cottoned on to the fact that while coloured ukuleles are fun, they vast majority are of terrible quality - and finally made a good one! This Ohana SK-15GN soprano ukulele is really well made, and gives a great tone. Obviously you pay more for a decent uke, but in our book, one nice sounding ukulele is worth more than ten brightly painted, super cheap and super nasty ukes. Most painted ukuleles are nothing more than jolly looking firewood, but this Ohana model manages to look nice and fun, but actually perform as a musical instrument too.

Rather than use paint, which can dull the tone of a ukulele, the nice gloss varnish on the Ohana SK-15 has been mixed with green pigment, so you can still see the grain of the wood. It also has attractive body and soundhole binding, making a very nice looking uke. The SK-15GN has mahogany top, back and sides and a well finished, easy playing rosewood fingerboard together with geared tuners. Ohana's own website claims that these ukes are fitted with GHS strings, but ours have been supplied with Aquila strings for a stronger, richer tone.
