This instrument has well tuned bars of aluminium. It is sweet-sounding and would form the top and second element of  an ensemble of pitched percussion. It plays the  tune or second harmony line of the classroom orchestra. (If setting up class tuned percussion, one should also consider the German Studio 49 make.)

Alto glocks work well with the other parts of the metal chorus, ie the Soprano glock, Tenor metallophone or chime bars, and of course, Bass metallophone!

This ensemble is well complemented by the choir of Xylophones- Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.

These sets of instruments will  form the central core of the Orff-based Classroom orchestra.

Naturally, all these instruments would, ideally, have the chromatic halves! They do come with F#'s and Bb bars which came be fitted.Other bars may be bought as seperate items.
