This instrument has well tuned bars of aluminium. It is very sweet sounding and would form the Tenor or bass element of an ensemble of pitched percussion. (If setting up, one should also consider the German Studio 49 make.)
Soprano Metallophones work well with the other parts of the metal chorus, ie the Alto glock, or deep chime bars, and of course, Bass metallophone!
This ensemble is well complemented by the choir of Xylophones, Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.
These sets of instruments will form the central core of the Orff-based Classroom orchestra.
Naturally, all these instruments would, ideally have the chromatic halves!

Soprano Diatonic Metallophone - PP017
Our Metallophones are similarly constructed and tuned to our glockenspiels, however produce a slightly mellower, warm sound. Manufactured in the UK factory in Market Harborough, from carefully selected timber and with thirteen aluminium notes, this strong and sturdy Soprano Metallophone provides the player with a fantastic deep resonance from its four resonating sound chambers.
Great care and attention has been made in the production of this instrument to ensure that the quality of finish and tuning is perfect and our Perfect Pitch instruments are always sprayed “red” to identify them as genuine Percussion Plus products.
All instruments within the Perfect Pitch range mean just that; that there are no short cuts to the sound of this Metallophone, this instrument has followed strict precision tuning control to A440 (pitch standard). This standard of tuning is applied to our educational ranges, not just the professional instruments making us the first choice for schools or players requiring their instruments to be note perfect. Once played, other Metallophones will just not sound the same.
The PP017 can be accompanied with a PP018 Soprano Chromatic Half Metallophone to make a fully chromatic soprano instrument
