This is a baritone ukulele for players who don't have much spare time. The Ko'olau company makes these fantastic Pono ukes over in Indonesia, and brings them back to Hawaii to be inspected and set up there. It is a wonder they ever let any leave - I'd keep! When these first arrived here, our technicians would squabble over them saying 'that one's MINE'! And that reaction is entirely understandable, you simply can't have one of these lying around and not desire it. Badly.

On the technical side, all of the tonewood is solid, the strings are Ko'olau, the nut and saddle are bone and the fingerboard is unstained rosewood (meaning it has nice streaks of lighter colour in it). There are very good quality Pono branded closed geared tuners and an incredibly thin gloss finish which sparkles beautifully, but allows the top to resonate freely without any dampening.

The tone of the MBD Pono is fantastic, rich, warm and with sweet overtones. It sings beautifully and the sustain is looooooooong. It plays beautifully all the way up the neck, from big chords down the bottom end full of power, to delicate melodies on the upper frets, where the sweet highs reside.

The problem is, you can't buy a Pono MDB deluxe baritone ukulele because..... this one's MINE! ;)
