The YAS-480 is Yamaha's "intermediate" model alto saxophone and, taking its inspiration from their professional models, it is a definite step-up from a student sax.

Designed to suit the improving player, the 480 feels light and well-balanced in the hands and Yamaha's famous ergonomics ensure everything falls neatly under the fingers.

The first thing you notice when blowing the YAS 480 is a little extra resistance, compared to student saxes, but this little extra effort is rewarded with an impressively full and rich tone.  Intonation is flawless, but then we wouldn't expect any less of Yamaha.

Compared with its predecessor, the YAS-475, the 480 features numerous small but significant developments which add up to improve its durability and character and make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to upgrade from a student sax.

The YAS-480 is supplied as an outfit with an attractive lightweight case, mouthpiece, ligature and care kit.
